It’s that time of year when you’re raking leaves and putting the garden to bed, but for GreenWeaver Landscapes in Kennett Square, Chester County, it’s time to wake up!
“Fall is the perfect time to plan your landscape with a professional, because you can really see what’s working and what’s not as the seasons change – and be ready to enjoy your sustainable garden makeover for spring,” says GreenWeaver Founder and President Jennifer Nichols.
The LLC is feeling its own fall energy after its SBA 504 loan recently funded for a newly purchased property on West Cypress Street in Kennett Square. The 2,200 square-foot office with loft on 2.4 acres will stabilize occupancy expenses from GreenWeaver’s previous month-to-month lease and free up funds for business growth.
And sustainable growth is what this business is all about, designing landscapes that are beautiful and inviting for residential and commercial properties, while also conserving the natural resources that can be exhausted by traditional landscape design.
The business began operations in 2008 as an ecological landscape design, maintenance and stormwater management business, with Nichols involved in horticulture for over 25 years and holding certifications from Longwood Gardens where she taught both storm water management and landscape design. The business plans to add to their 24-member staff over the next two years, so the project easily met the SBA 504 loan’s job creation and retention goals while providing a below-market interest rate in a challenging lending environment.
“Jennifer is not only a valuable contributor to her business community but also has deep roots supporting it through her volunteer work on her municipality’s environmental advisory council, as well as watershed and ecological organizations,” said Seedcopa Senior Vice President & Relationship Manager Marie Shires. “It was truly a pleasure to facilitate an SBA 504 loan in partnership with Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union to support a business model that so clearly benefits the community directly.”
